Matt Dolan

Diocese of San Diego
Director of Information Technology
Matt Dolan is the Director of Information Technologies for the Diocese of San Diego. He is a generalist that wears many hats and gets into just about everything I.T. from wiring, switches, firewalls, databases, Exchange Server, Microsoft Office, websites, Windows OS builds, Hyper-V and Nutanix clusters and a little bit of Linux.

Matt started as a developer in 1985 on PCs and IBM systems at the Price Club. Did a stint with SAFECO Insurance creating a Visual Basic workflow system for scanning faxes, saving them to file servers and matching them to records on an AS400. Matt moved to John Deere Water (formerly T-Systems) in 1999 and began work on the CropSense system that retrieved water level data fed to satellites by probes in fields around the world then displayed charts on a website to help growers determine watering schedules. Matt was asked to come to the Pastoral Center for the Diocese of San Diego in 2010 to run the Office for I.T. and rebuild the infrastructure that had aged well beyond normal life expectancy and now spends most of his time tweaking systems instead of developing software.
